SOFIIProgram

Supporting high-growth and innovated Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, the Eastern Ontario network of CFDCs administers a fund called SOFII, the Southern Ontario Fund for Investment in Innovation. Helping finance late stage commercialization, new product or service development, new applications/markets and the ongoing development of technologies and processes, the loan funds act as a catalyst for increased investment for innovation in Southern Ontario.

The early stages of your business can be critical for your lasting success. Sometimes, with all the resources and time you put in, you can still come up short. PELA CFDC administers a special fund that invests equity into you business at the early stages, co-invested by First Stone Venture Partners. Unlike traditional venture capitalists, First Stone Venture Partners and PELA CFDC have a goal of building sustainable businesses that have longevity and boost economic diversity.

Founded by fellow entrepreneurs, First Stone Venture Partners (FSVP) is a capital fund that invests in early stage technology businesses to help them grow and develop, with a goal of fostering technology-based innovation in rural communities. With a goal of raising $5M to make 25 new investments in startups over the next three years, FSVP is motivated to enrich the community with the technology it needs to face a changing market.

Led by the private sector and supported by communities, FSVP incubates and partners with businesses across the country to achieve the goal of offering superior investment returns. Valuing fairness, integrity and social responsibility, their diverse team is built on experience and achievement, having worked in multiple sectors with experience in IT architecture, commercialization of research, corporate law, and government communications.
